What is PIR sensor? :

PIR sensor is a sensor sensitive to motion and body temperature.

These sensors have a wide detection angle and a long range (at least 3 meters of visibility and 15 degrees of angle).

A laser sensor is recommended to prevent false triggering on sensitively positioned stairs.

How Should Correct Installation Be?

PIR sensors are a type of sensor that gives signals as a result of detecting body temperature and movement.
The mounting location of the sensor should be 10-15 cm back from the first step.
Since the angle and range of the sensor are high, it is possible to detect movements other than stair entrance.
For example, if the sensor mounted at the entrance of the stairs focuses on parts of the hallway or room, it also detects movements there and may send a wrong signal to the system, which may activate the system.
This is not a sensor malfunction, but a problem caused by the high range of the sensor.
It is more suitable for mounting locations opposite a wall or a blind area.
To avoid such problems, choosing a laser sensor would be a better choice.
